before getting the service, there are a few things you should be aware of:
PREPARATION:
Clients should plan to avoid prolonged sun exposure for 30 days after their scheduled appointment. To perform cosmetic tattoo procedures on the lips, the skin of your lips must be hydrated and moisturized on the day of your appointment. We ask all clients to begin a daily lip regiment 5 days before you are scheduled to come in to prepare the lips.
5 DAY REGIMENT:
Vitamin A&D should be applied throughout the day.
After showering when lips are soft and supple, gently scrub your lips, especially the middle, and apply a layer of Vitamin A&D. You can make a homemade scrub by mixing brown sugar, honey, and olive oil in the same proportions.
PAIN PREPARATION:
Though the sensation of micro-pigmentation is minimal, all clients will respond to pain differently. To alleviate possible discomfort, a strong topical anesthetic will be applied before and during the procedure. Please do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin 24 hours before. Tylenol can be taken 30 minutes before your treatment without any contraindications.
COLD SORES:
For clients with an ANY history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes, please contact your physician and request a prescription for Zovirax or Valtrex. Taking preventative medication is recommended on the day of and the day after your appointment as a potential outbreak can occur as the skin's natural reaction to the procedure. If you experience frequent outbreaks, please note that Lip Blush can only be done after 4 weeks from your most recent outbreak. All other questions or concerns regarding medications and outbreaks should be discussed with your healthcare physician.
PLEASE NOTE:
5 days before, during, and 5 days after your menstrual cycle you will be more sensitive and experience more discomfort and bleeding during the procedure. You are also more likely to experience premature color loss because of this. Please try to avoid booking your Lip Blush appointment during those days.

Post-Care Information
Swelling is normal after the procedure. After you leave, It’s recommended that an ice pack be applied for 10 to 15 minutes each hour for the first 4-8 hours following the procedure.
FOR THE FIRST 2 DAYS:
☐The treated area can only be cleansed using the provided antiseptic wipes. The treated areas should be cleaned 3 times a day, morning, afternoon, and evening. No water or other cleansers can be used for any reason. A very thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment should be applied consistently throughout the day to the treatment area using a fresh Q-tip (do not use mineral oil or petroleum based products such as Vaseline.) Applying too much ointment can lead to fading, so a thin layer goes a long way. This will keep the area moist and accelerate healing. Do not let the area dry out and crack, keep it moist at all times. Do not press or rub when applying ointment.
*Apply an extra heavy coat of ointment to the treated area only before bathing, washing off adjacent areas, and immediately upon rising in the morning. When brushing teeth for the first five days, use a minimal amount of toothpaste. Toothpaste and mouthwash are considered “soap” and will remove the lip color.
Clients should avoid all prolonged outdoor sun exposure for the first 30 days. Prolonged sun exposure will lead to a premature loss of color or can cause a change in color of the fresh pigment.
FOR THE FIRST 7 DAYS:
☐ Do not touch, bite, lick, pick, peel, tamper, scratch, rub, injure, or remove the peeling in any way; if you do, you will experience a loss of color.
☐ Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your lips.
☐ Use a straw when drinking liquids.
☐ Avoid biting into foods that might cause friction to the lips: no spicy or super-hot food and drink.
☐ No physical activity that causes extreme sweating.
☐ Do not use any lipstick or cosmetics on or near the treated area.
FOR THE FIRST 14 DAYS:
☐ No hot sauna, swimming pool, hot bath/shower, sun tanning, tanning salons, Vaseline, Neosporin, or any petroleum-based products, no massage, facials, waxing, threading, laser, or skin treatments.
☐ Do not expose the area to dirty or unsanitary conditions. Try to avoid being in dusty places.
FOR THE FIRST 30 DAYS:
☐ Do not use products containing alcohol, tonics, or tonics based on lactose and fruit acids, retinol acids, glycolic acids in the treatment area.
Possible Risks, Hazards, or Complications
Pain: Topical anesthetic will be used before and during the procedure. Some clients may experience pain, even with the use of anesthetics. If a client undergoes a procedure while they are on their menstrual cycle, they are more likely to experience more pain.
Infection: Infections are very unusual. The areas treated must be kept clean, and only freshly cleaned hands should touch the areas. Please reference the "After Care" sheet for a list of all restrictions and instructions on post-care.
Uneven Pigmentation: This can result from poor healing, immune system, infection, bleeding, or many other causes. The follow up appointment will likely correct any uneven appearance.
Asymmetry: Every effort will be made to avoid asymmetry, but our faces are not symmetrical, so adjustments may be needed during the follow up session to correct any visual asymmetries. If a client has a strong asymmetry, a lip blush should be done in combination with injections.
Excessive swelling or bruising: Some people bruise and swell more than others. The bruising and swelling typically disappear within 1-3 days. Some people do not bruise or swell at all.
Anesthesia: Topical Anesthetics are used to numb the area being tattooed. Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Benzocaine, Tetracaine, and Epinephrine in a cream or gel form are typically used. If you are allergic to any of these, please inform us now.
Fever blisters: If you are prone to cold sores or fever blisters (herpes simplex), there is a high probability that you will get them when undergoing a lip procedure. Please contact a physician for a prescription anti-viral to help prevent this from occurring. The alternative to these possibilities is to use cosmetics and not undergo the Permanent Cosmetic procedure.
Consent and release for procedures performed must be signed the day of your procedure.
FAQs
What is semi-permanent lip blush and how does it work?
The pigments used in semi-permanent lip blush are different from those used in traditional tattooing, which is why the results are considered semi-permanent. The pigments will gradually fade over time, usually within 1-3 years.
What is the difference between semi-permanent lip blush and traditional permanent makeup for lips?
Traditional permanent makeup for lips typically involves tattooing the lips with permanent ink, which can result in a more intense and long-lasting color. However, the results can also be less natural-looking and may require more frequent touch-ups. Semi-permanent lip blush, on the other hand, is designed to enhance the natural color and shape of the lips in a more subtle way.
Can anyone get semi-permanent lip blush or are there certain requirements?
While most people are good candidates for semi-permanent lip blush, there are some exceptions. For example, if you have a history of cold sores or are currently experiencing an outbreak, you should wait until it has cleared up before getting the procedure. Additionally, if you have certain medical conditions or are taking certain medications, you may not be able to get semi-permanent lip blush. It's important to consult with a qualified provider to determine if you are a good candidate.
Are there any risks or side effects associated with semi-permanent lip blush?
As with any cosmetic procedure, there are some risks and potential side effects associated with semi-permanent lip blush. These may include swelling, bruising, infection, and allergic reactions. However, these risks can be minimized by choosing a reputable provider and following all aftercare instructions.
How long does semi-permanent lip blush last and what is the aftercare process?
After getting semi-permanent lip blush, you will need to follow a specific aftercare routine to ensure optimal results. This may include avoiding certain foods and activities for a period of time, applying ointment to the lips, and avoiding direct sunlight. Your provider will give you detailed instructions on how to care for your lips after the procedure.
How much does semi-permanent lip blush typically cost and where can I find a reputable provider?
